Objective
To continue teaching struggling readers using the Reading Recovery program while modeling good literacy practices and instructing fellow educators through school-wide staff development

Harbins Elementary School
August 2002 – present Re ading Recovery/EIP Teacher Dacula , GA
Collaborated with Literacy Support Team to provide staff development in literacy for K-5 classroom teachers. Modeled Guided Reading strategies for both novice and veteran teachers. Observed, evaluated and conferenced with teachers as a Literacy Coach. Coordinated and developed the book room for school-wide use. Initiated database for book room checkout. Successfully discontinued 95% of Reading Recovery students taught in the program. Utilized Learning Focus Strategies with both first and second grade EIP students.
Harbins Elementary School
September 2001 - May 2002 Kindergarten Teacher Dacula , GA
Taught 18 kindergarten students in a developmentally appropriate setting. Implemented Guided Reading strategies with small groups of students. Initiated interactive writing activities on a daily basis. Designed and implemented curriculum to match Gwinnett county's AKS. Assessed students using GKAP, running records, Writing Vocabulary task, and Concepts about Print.
Kingston Elementary School
August 2000 - May 2001 Computer Technology Teacher Kingston , GA
Designed and implemented computer technology curriculum for students in grades 1-5. Instructed students using the Internet as well as diversified software programs such as KidPix, Mavis Beacon Typing, Microsoft Works, Students Writing Center , and Accelerated Reader. Volunteered to utilize planning period to instruct kindergarten students in computer basics. Integrated technology with classroom literature series.
Kingston Elementary School
August 1996 - May 1999 Reading Recovery/SIA Teacher Kingston , GA
Collaborated with first grade teachers within the classroom setting. Screened bottom twenty percent of first grade students school-wide using the Observation Survey. Selected lowest progressing students to participate in the program. Taught students both reading and writing strategies in order to accelerate them to average classroom reading level. Maintained contact with students through follow-up testing and conferences with the classroom teacher.
